We are three weeks away from UNC Basketball’s “Live Action” and five weeks away from the exhibition vs. St. Augustine’s. Given that, it’s time to check in on where things stand with the depth chart and who will be Carolina’s key contributors this season. What is the state of affairs with the frontcourt? The backcourt? We know the stalwarts in both position groups – RJ Davis and Armando Bacot, but what number and which Tar Heels will be the main players to join them?

We’ve wrapped up our roster preview series talking about all 11 scholarship players for North Carolina in 2023-24 – from the freshmen (Elliot Cadeau and Zayden High) to the sophomores (Seth Trimble and Jalen Washington), the juniors (Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram and West Virginia transfer James Okonkwo), the lone scholarship senior (RJ Davis) and the grad students (Jae’lyn Withers, Paxson Wojcik, Cormac Ryan, and Armando Bacot). Today we dive into one of the most critical personnel groups on the team: The Biscuit Boys. This is the current moniker for UNC’s walk-ons, currently made up of Duwe Farris, Rob Landry, and Creighton Lebo.

On Monday, North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Hubert Davis extended his eighth scholarship offer in the class of 2025, this one going to Link Academy’s Jasper Johnson. Just like the other seven Coach Davis has offered, Johnson is an elite-level basketball player. The other seven offered are Cam Boozer, Cayden Boozer, Isiah Harwell, Koa Peat, Darryn Peterson, Bryson Tiller, and Caleb Wilson.

The ACC schedule for basketball will be released next Tuesday, September 26. Class of 2024 commit Drake Powell continues to rise in recruiting rankings. The Heels will face FAU in a secret scrimmage. “Live Action” is scheduled for October 13.

We’ve known about the ACC expansion news for a couple weeks now and are continuing to digest what it means and looks like. In 2024-25 the ACC will add Stanford, Cal, and SMU bringing the total membership to 18, other than in football. Coach Rob joins today’s show to help put it all into perspective from a Coach’s point of view. We discuss considerations such as travel, budget, recruiting, scheduling, etc. There are certainly both pros and cons to this change, like everything. For example, will the ACC take a “travel partners” approach to scheduling games for Stanford and Cal? Will games on the west coast be played in windows that work well for the Eastern Time Zone or will they be in convenient local time slots?

Josh reacts to what UNC basketball just did that has finally caught them up with Duke and many of the other elite programs in the country.

Armando Bacot is back.

After averaging 15.9 points and 10.4 rebounds last season, the Tar Heel forward elected to come back to Chapel Hill for another season. Next year will be his 5th season playing for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
