ECBL Basketball: North Carolina Capitals vs. Petersburg Cavaliers – 4-29-23

Ron Holland, the No. 1 PF in the class of 2023, decommitted from Texas on Friday and will open up his recruitment. North Carolina could really utilize him to help round a frontcourt that’s quite thin with just Armando Bacot, Jalen Washinton, and Jae’lyn Withers. Holland would provide immediate help in that regard.

The NFL Draft was this weekend and four Tar Heels were drafted. In fact, for the third straight season, four or more Tar Heels have been drafted. This year’s crew included Josh Downs (3rd, 79, Colts), Asim Richards (5th, 169, Cowboys), Antoine Green (7th, 219, Lions), and Ray Vohasek (7th, 227, Jaguars).

On a special live edition of the Coast to Coast podcast, Sherrell McMillan and Sean Moran join Joey Powell to revisit the second live evaluation period of the spring recruiting calendar, discuss Marcus Paige’s return to UNC, and even take some questions from the live audience.

To begin the show, Sean Moran takes a second to dive into his recent video breakdown of UNC Transfer Commit Paxson Wojcik’s game. Then, Moran and Sherrell McMillan talk a bit about the second live period of recruiting from this past weekend. Moran notes some statistics from UNC’s commits and McMillan gives some insight as to where the Tar Heel coaching staff spent their energy.

We toured their beautiful park Boshamer Stadium, locker room, indoor hitting facility, gear room, and their awesome BRAND NEW weight room. This place was AMAZING. Class of 2024 – UNC Commit

Drake Powell put together a masterful performance against the Georgia Stars as he finished with 19 points, 5 rebs, three assists, a block and a steal to get a victory.

Marcus Paige is reportedly coming back to join the UNC Basketball staff in the role vacated recently by Jackie Manuel (per Adam Smith of Inside Carolina). One of the most beloved Tar Heels in recent memory coming back to Chapel Hill will be a turning point for Hubert Davis and staff. Amongst other things, he’ll prove an asset for the six current scholarship backcourt players – RJ Davis, D’Marco Dunn, Seth Trimble, Simeon Wilcher, Cormac Ryan, and Paxson Wojcik.

Host Isaac Schade gives his top five Paige moments include his Senior Speech, game-winning layups over Louisville and NC State, and his game-tying double-clutch three in the NCAA Championship Game.
