(11/14/2023) UNC Asheville Bulldogs vs Carolina University Bruins Men’s Basketball Highlights

The No. 17 North Carolina Tar Heels handled their business with a 68-39 win over the Elon Phoenix. Alyssa Ustby led the way on offense with 16 points on 8-14 shooting to go along with 11 rebounds. Maria Gakdeng & Deja Kelly each added 13 points in the win. The UNC defense was stellar, holding Elon to 31% shooting and scoring 24 points off of 21 Phoenix turnovers.

North Carolina had a dominant victory on Friday night over UC-Riverside behind another 20-point performance from Armando Bacot. But other players stepped up to help – namely Carolina’s two returning sophomores, Seth Trimble and Jalen Washington, who each scored 11 and shot a combined 9-12 from the field. Will UNC ‘s three-point shooting improve? Will the depth continue to be utilized in the Battle 4 Atlantis?

It was a tough Saturday in Death Valley for the Tar Heels. The game started out strong, but Carolina wasn’t able to take advantage of 1st Quarter opportunities that might have put them in position to ultimately win the game.

North Carolina has one more tune-up game tomorrow night before heading down to the Battle 4 Atlantis. What should we expect to see from the Tar Heels against UC-Riverside? Lineup changes? Shortening the rotation? Higher energy on defense? Will Armando Bacot continue his early-season tear? Will we see even more role definition off the bench for players like Jalen Washington, Jae’lyn Withers, Elliot Cadeau, Seth Trimble, Zayden High?

There’s new block/charge verbiage in college basketball this year. It’s even stricter on what a player has to do in order to be able to draw a charge. Coach Rob helps interpret how to observe it and what we should be looking for.

The Tar Heels wore blue at home for the first time in nine years, but looked as comfortable as ever in a 77-52 win over UC Riverside. Carolina shot 46% from the floor while holding the Highlanders to just 31%. Armando Bacot had a game-high 21 points and even hit his second-career three-pointer in the victory. Jalen Washington had a solid game with 11 points while going 2-2 from three-point range to go with 5 rebounds and 2 blocks. Harrison Ingram had 10 points and was the team’s leading rebounder with 9.
