North Carolina has had trouble carving out space in the paint for Armando Bacot lately, with teams clogging up the middle and daring the Tar Heels to make perimeter shots. Aside from the Clemson game, it’s mostly worked. Coach Davis said he’s committed to figuring out some new wrinkles. What will those be?

A debate has arisen as to whether Coach Davis would be better served changing his scheme to match her personnel or changing his personnel to better match the scheme? If changing personnel, who is a prime candidate? Jalen Washington? Puff Johnson?

NC State vs. Syracuse: In a close back-and-forth game, the Orange knocked off the #23 Wolfpack, 75-72. This was Syracuse’s first win over a ranked opponent in over two years. NC State had two attempts to tie the game in the closing seconds, but could not get either three-point attempt to drop. Jesse Edwards had a big double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds. Judah Mintz added 20 points and nine assists. For NC State, Jarkel Joiner recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.

UNC basketball suffered an 80-72 loss at home to Miami, making it four losses in their last five games. Joe Ovies & Joe Giglio wonder if North Carolina will miss out on the NCAA Tournament after being a national title favorite at the beginning of the season.

North Carolina earned a big win at home over Clemson, 91-71. Caleb Love had a terrific afternoon shooting the ball, as he scored a game-high 23 points on 7-12 shooting, including 6-9 from range. He also added 5 assists. Armando Bacot fought for another double double, scoring 19 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. RJ Davis added 17 points in the win. For Clemson, PJ Hall was the leading scorer, picking up 18 points including 12 in the first half.

North Carolina wasn’t able to build on the momentum they created at home on Saturday against Clemson. Miami came into Chapel Hill on Monday and beat UNC 80-72. As good as Carolina was shooting the ball on Saturday, they were that bad on Monday night. Miami essentially neutralized Armando Bacot and no shooters were consistently albe to make the Hurricanes pay outside.

Leaky Black was the player of the game for UNC, finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds and allowing Isaiah Wong just 2 points. Carolina still hasn’t found the right combination at the 4. Is it Pete Nance? Is it Puff Johnson? Is it Jalen Washington?
